Ryan Selove

Hello! My name is Ryan Selove and I am the Public Relations and Marketing Specialist at Sky Meadows State Park.  I have always had great times out in nature starting with my very first camping trips as a Cub Scout.

When I was in undergrad at George Mason University I realized that my affinity for wild landscapes wasn’t just a mild interest but a real passion.  No matter how stressful school got with all of its homework and tests, the stress was no match for the serenity I felt when I drove to the Potomac River and took a walk along its banks.

This love of nature led me to work for a season in the National Park Service at the Big South Fork in Kentucky where I managed campgrounds and served as an interpretive ranger at one of the parks historic sites.  After my season was over I continued to volunteer with the National Park service at Manassas Battlefield near my hometown of Centreville Virginia.

I then took another period of time outside of my home state to live in Vermont for a year as a student in the Sustainable Innovation MBA program at the University of Vermont.  After graduating from UVM I wasn’t exactly sure which direction I wanted to take.  After taking some time to reflect about my next steps I realized that of all the places that I could work, working in parks is one of those few careers that makes sense to both my mind and my heart.  Next thing I knew I was sending out my application to Sky Meadows State Park for the PR and Marketing Specialist position.  Not only do I now get to work in a park that I’ve enjoyed with my family since I was a youngster, I also get to harmonize my love of people, of nature, and my business skills from school in a unique way every day.

You could call me a happy camper.  And lucky for me, camping is free here for employees on the off season. See you on the trails!
